Watch: Common “Blue Sky” Lyric Video

5 October 2011 by Brock, No Comments

Shoutouts to the art department for putting together one of the freshest lyric videos I’d seen in some time. Usually these are just a bunch of flying and disorienting text, this for Common’s “Blue Sky” off his upcoming The Dreamer / The Believer brings comic sans (yeah i know) together with the Chicago skyline for an exhilarating and uplifting effect.

Check it out below and look out for The Dreamer / The Believer coming soon.

Solo Tour Dates Coming For Frank Ocean

4 October 2011 by Brock, No Comments

I guess off the back of the recently announced OFWGTA Tour dates, Frank Ocean is getting a nice bundle of solo spots for himself. Currently announced are 3 dates hitting his home town of New Orleans (November 5) then traipsing up to New York (November 6) and finally closing out in Los Angeles (November 15).

I can only hope that these are just the preliminary dates for more people need to hear his amazing music, and I need more than one chance to experience it live.

Frank & OFWGKTA dates after the jump.

Watch: Portishead “Machine Gun” w/ Public Enemy’s Chuck D

3 October 2011 by Brock, No Comments

On the list of “Cool Shit I’d Wish I’d Been There To See” this one is right there.
Portishead + Chuck D.

The above video comes from this past weekend’s All Tomorrow’s Parties festival in Asbury Park, NJ. The performance is a mash up of sorts. As Portishead make their way through “Machine Gun” Chuck D takes the mic and drops in a few of his verses from “Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos”. Enjoy.

Watch: Skrillex’s “Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites” Played Live

28 September 2011 by Brock, No Comments

We’re all familiar with Skrillex’s killer “Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites” so no introduction is needed, unless there were some sort of faithful rendition done with live instruments and a little distortion.

Oh wait there is one.

The above and below comes courtesy of Pinn Panelle:

There are no sequences, or backing tracks playing behind the band. All wobbles are live.

Watch: J. Cole’s “Daddy’s Little Girl”

26 September 2011 by Brock, No Comments

Provocative piece of imagery attached to J. Cole’s track “Daddy’s Little Girl”. A story of shattered dreams and mislead desires matched poignantly with two intertwining scenes of a young ballerina and the psyche of an exotic dancer.

Peep it below.
