Neon Trees Live Review from Sunset Strip Music Festival

28 August 2010 by Lorenz, 7 Comments

The crowd was into Neon Trees as soon as they took the stage, but the electrifying vocals and stage antics of the front man Tyler Glenn caused the crowd to go into a fucking frenzy.

He tore out all the stops as soon as the show started. Not only did they start with “Love and Affection” and head-high kicks, he unzipped his leather trousers and showed off his high wasted Fruit of the Loom undies. His gorgeous, young fans could hardly contain themselves (and I couldn’t blame them). To top this all off, he engaged in some, what looked to be, auto erotic asphyxiation with the microphone cord.

I wish I could point to a song as a highlight but the band owned the entire set. Instead, I’ll list some of my favorite moments:

1. “Love and Affection” got the crowd excited, but their hit “Animal” was yet an other stand out performance.
2. Tyler Hushing the crowd so that he could blast everyone’s ears without interference
3. His closing remarks including the quote “it is OK for a straight man to wear leggings in 2010.”
